Reduce the danger of silica by Pressurisation

Learn how pressurisation can protect employees from the effects of silica dust and other fine particulates

Reduce CO2 concentrations and filter out the ingress of silica, asbestos and other contaminants:

By Using Our Advanced Pressurisation Filtration Technology - Designed to keep your rooms clean giving long-term protection to personal, by effectively filtering out silica, asbestos and diesel dust ingress and reduce CO2 concentrations.

Fast: installation
Safe: Keep rooms and air clean
Effective: Filtering a large range of contaminates
Economical: To install and run
Versatile: Suitable for a large range of applications

What is (room) pressurization?

  • Positive air pressure is achieved when the volume of air entering a room exceeds the volume exiting the same room
  • “Air In” must be clean
  • “Air out” is typically unavoidable as it occurs through leaks, doors, etc

Benefits of a positive pressurized room:

As air always moves from areas of high pressure to areas of low pressure, dust and contaminant ingress is reduced

  • Health benefits (reduced exposure to harmful dust)
  • Equipment protection (Arc flashes or failure)

The Graph below indicates the filter efficiency "of the standard pocket filter" that is used on these systems, on the dust load of the filter media. These tests were made according to EN 779:2012 /1/. Freudenberg Filtration Technologies has a vast range of filters. We may be able to offer other filters with specifications suitable for specific applications?

The Graphic Above shows the effect that the unseen, tasteless and odourless Co2 has on the human body.

Freudenberg Filtration Technologies pressurisation units are designed to change the air for the application a minimum of  10 ACH [ air changes per hour ] thus diluting the concentration of CO2 to a minimum.

Freudenberg Filtration Technologies is the world market leader for pressurisation and filtration. Our fan-filter unit range offers the air quality you need for the effective filtering of silica and other fine dust partials for your application, whether it is one of our standard products or a custom-built solution according to your individual requirements.

Chronic overexposure to respirable silica dust (particle diameter < 10 micrometres) leads to a progressive lung disease known as silicosis. Workers who develop silicosis have an increased incidence of lung cancer and pulmonary disorders. SEE This

Freudenberg Filtration Technologies does not only offer the right equipment and filters to keep your air clean of silica and another dust ingress. Our service specialists also make sure, that your pressurisation units are always well maintained and the filters are in good condition.

The creation and maintenance of positive pressure within a room or vessel through an adequate supply of clean (filtered) incoming air prevents dust ingress from entering through doors, windows, and other leaky areas. This positive pressure will keep the room and any equipment inside clean, whilst ensuring a clean dust-free environment for its occupants.

A Freudenberg Pressurisation System  is designed to keep dust AWAY via pressurization of the room/vessel and reduce CO2 concentrations in the room as fresh clean air is being supplied constantly at an adequate rate by changing the air in the room or area many times per hour

The Benefits of a Freudenberg Pressurisation System:

Installation is quick and easy:

A Freudenberg Pressurisation System It is easy to install (on any surface and within minutes provided that there is a penetration)

A Freudenberg Pressurisation System has low acquisition and running costs:

A Freudenberg Pressurisation System is cheap to purchase and very cheap to run

A Freudenberg Pressurisation System is low acquisition and running costs

Specifically for small/medium-sized rooms of up to 76,3 Mroughly a 40' GP High container for reference.

A Freudenberg Pressurisation System is Versatile in its use

Our Pressurisation units are most suitable for installation in switch rooms, control rooms, crib rooms, offices, dongas, in mine areas where the majority of personal are away from the finest of production dust, for control rooms close to the crushing and other production areas a different  Freudenberg Pressurisation System is required.

A Freudenberg Pressurisation System is Versatile in its use

Our pressurisation units work in conjunction with the existing wall-mounted A/C units and as such, there is no need for a large air handling unit and reduces the unseen build up of Co2.

The problem of unfiltered incoming air.

In rural areas, 1 litre of ambient air contains 1 Million particles whereas, in urban areas, 1 litre of air contains 1 Billion particles. Many of these particles are pollutants which can range from organic sources (pollen, fungal spores, bacteria, etc.), inorganic sources (due to erosion, sandstorms, fires and salt particles) and also man-made sources such as air traffic, industry, mining, agriculture, road traffic, mineral fibres, nanoparticles, Nano diesel particulate matter (nDPM), particle-laden smoke either from a production process or other sources, etc.

The health risks of unfiltered incoming air.

Many of the particles contained by the air can affect our health. Particles of up to 10 microns are deposited in our noses and throats. Particles of up to 2.5 microns are deposited on our Bronchi and Bronchiole while particles of 1 micron or less than 100 nanometres are deposited in our alveoli and are absorbed directly into the blood stream, thus migrating to vital organs.

The damage caused by these particles depends on the amount, size and type of particles present in the air we breathe.

Positive Pressure FAQ's

  • Positive pressure requirements

Typically 10pa to 50pa although this is site-dependent.

  • Air changes required

Typically 10 per hour although this is site-dependent.

  • Incoming air temperature:

Typically, the existing wall mount split units are capable of dealing with the additional incoming air. If not, a new split unit may be needed. Info on existing aircon capacity is requested during RFQ. For projects requiring a larger HVAC system, FFT can deal with the client’s HVAC engineers

  • Information required for unit selection:
    1. Room dimensions (W x L x H)
    2. Details on the application (i.e. MCC room, lab, control room, etc.)
    3. Site (geographical) location
    4. Type of dust & dust load
    5. Is there an internal heat source present?
    6. Current Air conditioning capacity (nameplate details, cooling and heating power, btu's)
    7. Is the application noise sensitive? (i.e. would noise be an issue)
  • Filtration efficiency:

This is unique to each site/application. As global leaders in filtration and with manufacturing facilities in Australia, Freudenberg Filtration Technologies (Aust) Pty Ltd. will utilize the most suitable filter for each application.
